SURIN
Surin Province is best known for its Elephant Roundup which lasts
for a weekend in the third week of November. The province elephants,
which usually live in the fields, come together once a year to entertain
crowds with races, soccer games, and colourful processions.
Other attractions of the province are its hand-woven cloth, woven
basketry, and silver ornaments made in artisanal village near the
town of Surin. Surin also has its share of Khmer ruins, including
Prasat Phumipon which, dating from the 7th century, is one of the
oldest surviving examples of Khmer architecture.
